Rock and Roll Baby Shower

Rock and Roll Baby Shower

IMG_0804

Do you have a feeling that you have a little Rockstar on the way? Or maybe you just absolutely love rock music. Whatever the case is, we are going to show you how to create a smash hit for your baby shower without costing an arm and a leg!

"BORN TO ROCK" BANNER:

This banner was custom made with a plain black banner from the 99 cent store for $1.99. We used blue card stock paper to cut the letters and “hardcore” hand signs with a Cricut Maker. If you are interested browsing different types of free fonts to use, check out Dafont’s website. There you will be able to narrow your search by filtering the type of font you are looking for, unlike Cricut’s Design Space.

After the Cricut machine completed each cut, we glued the letters and pictures individually to the banner with a glue stick. There were a couple of flags/triangles leftover, so we just removed them from the ribbon.

POOL BACKDROP/SIGN:

The signage behind the pool was outsourced by a local small business owner. To add an extra creative touch, we used clothespins to attach five baby onesies to some jute twine underneath the words “Born to Rock”. The black onesies were purchased as a 5-pack at Walmart. To decorate the onesies, five of the Mommy-to-Be’s favorite bands were chosen to create the perfect designs in Cricut Design Space. We then used a Cricut Maker to cut out the designs on Iron-on Vinyl and utilized a Cricut Easy Press 2 (9×9) to heat press the vinyl onto the onesies. They turned out perfect!

TREAT TABLE:

Everything blue!

Candy – “Its a boy” Buttermints, blue raspberry licorice twists (kosher & vegan), sour punch straws (blue), blue gummy raspberry sharks, blue pop rocks and blue rock candy sticks. These are all links that will lead you to the item directly on Amazon.

Rockstar Rice Krispy Treats – We cheated! We purchased the name brand box of 2.2 oz Rice Krispy Treats (purchased at Target) and cut them in half. Then we melted blue chocolate wafers to dip the top of the Krispy treat in. The link is for reference only (in the event you are not familiar with chocolate wafers or a good brand to use). Amazon chocolate wafers are extremely overpriced and we would not forgive ourselves if we didn’t share that you should be able to find a sale on these at your local Joanns for $2-3 dollars each.

Little Tip: When heating the chocolate in the microwave, do not leave in too long. Small intervals of 15-20 seconds and stir. If you overheat, you can ruin the chocolate. If it hardens, add a few more pieces of chocolate and keep stirring until you get a better consistency.

Creative Rockstar Labels: ROCKstar Candy = Rock Candy, Guitar Strings = Sour punch straws, Guitar picks = Lays chips, Rockstar Cake Mic = Cake Pops

"Don't Say Baby" Game:

We purchased a bulk box of baby blue clothespins and attached to jute twine. As the guests entered, we had them all put on a necklace. The idea is to not say “BABY”, or else someone can steal your necklace. The person with the most clothespins at the end of the party WINS!

Created the sign with Cricut Maker and Cricut Pens.

Used silver binder paper clips to hold signs for games and treats.

Photo Booth:

Photo Booth Picture Props: Downloadable picture props purchased on Etsy for $5 and then we used the “Print then Cut” method on the Cricut Maker. The Cricut Maker made the process seamless by cutting quickly and accurately. We 100% recommend doing everything this way if you decide to download and utilize any SVGs, PNGS, etc.

Since there are obviously no sticks with downloadable props, we purchased a photo booth prop set from the 99 cent store and removed the photos that came with package and hot glued the sticks to our downloaded items.

Other Props: Rockstar propsBlow up guitar, blow up microphone and blow up boom box, different colored cool glasses, saxophone and keyboard are all included in this affordable set on Amazon. The guests had a lot of fun with this!

Extras:

Diaper Cake

Table set up: Scattered Rock N Roll stickers, guitar pic confetti (made on Cricut Maker) and “Advice for the parents to be” (made on Cricut Maker) all over each table.

Table covers and skirts all purchased at the 99 cent store.

In Conclusion:

This baby shower is perfect for women AND men. Make it fun and have everyone wear their favorite band T-shirt and don’t even require it to be a rock band. This could be a nice icebreaker for everyone to mingle and share their love of music! If you have any questions or suggestions, please comment below or feel free to reach out below!
