Memorial Token Idea for a Bride

DIY Memorial Token Idea for Bride Bouquet

Do you know a bride-to-be that will be missing someone extremely important on their special day? We have all seen beautiful photos of those that are no longer with us in the picture frames on wedding guest chairs, but are you wanting to do more so that the bride feels their loved ones are a little closer? Take a look at this quick and easy DIY idea that you can create with your Cricut in just a few minutes.

Memorial Locket:

Finished Locket

To create the memorial locket, we bought the pendant and the hook chain separately.

Memorial Locket Chain:

We are big fans of the brand ‘Hildie and Jo’ when it comes to unique pendants, charms, tassels, chains, etc. You can find all sorts of designs at Joanns as they carry a huge collection of Hildie and Jo. We purchased the locket and the chain separately and turned the locket pendant into a small hook chain with our long nose pliers.

Glossy Print Paper: We chose this paper to give it a true photo feel

Print & Cut Photo: the print & cut method with Cricut is what makes this project so easy. If you have the photo in your phone or computer, you can upload it to Cricut Design Space directly and adjust your photo to whatever size you would like. We measured our heart pendant and adjusted our photo size to be able to fit inside the locket. See video below for a quick example of how we were able to do this with the heart shape and “slice” button.

Print & Cut method tip: Make sure the ink is dry before installing the photo into your Cricut, as you can see the border smeared a bit. Luckily the picture can out perfect.

Note: The photo is not a perfect heart shape due to the original photo size. As you can see in the video, the original photo is very close up and we wanted to make sure both individual’s faces could be seen entirely.

Here is a quick video tutorial of how we were able to cut the photo accurately to fit in the heart pendant with a Cricut Machine.

Putting it all together:

Depending on how long you would like your memorial token to be, decide how many links from the hook you will need before removing them from the rest of the chain. Using the pliers, remove the unwanted links and then connect the remainder of the chain to your locket. Insert your photo inside the locket.

You now have a complete memorial token and a beautiful way to memorialize a loved one that is missing on your bride’s special day!
